Here is another really fantastic project that one of our students created around planes and flying. http://20759g.weebly.com/ (password: genius)

Our very own Rachel Nolan, a fourth grade teacher at Country View Elementary, showcased how she uses technology to support student learning at WEMTA to educators around the state this past week. She lead a poster session on Osmos as well as a hands-on presentation about using Osmos with students. She also presented with Elizabeth Heiser, a fifth grade teacher at Stoner Prairie, and Karie Huttner, Educational Technology Coordinator at Country View and Stoner Prairie, about doing Genius Hour to provide voice and choice in student created learning projects. Here is another fantastic website that a student created to share her love of stories. She illustrates the characters as well as writes the stories. As I have been going through all of the work that our students did for Genius Hour - Weebly vs. Bloxels, I wanted to share this beautiful website that one of the students created. To access the site, use the password (genius). It is beautifully done. http://20577.weebly.com/
Lesson Learned: When students choose to not engage, as a teacher you need to know when to stop the lesson.
As part of Genius Hour, one of our students created a Bloxels game about Bloxels. I had hoped that we could find a way for the student to reach out to the Bloxels team to add even more to his game. Still working on the Bloxels interview part.... Josh?
Here is another example from Genius Hour of a student who chose to focus on his passion of Pokemon. Check out his design process as well as how he incorporated information and a quiz into his final game to ensure that the player is learning. Pretty clever!
