This is the journey of designing a bubble wand using Makers Empire. This was not the first bubble wand I had designed since I had done the tutorial in Makers Empire. I also practiced making holes to design the stars. The interior star is more for looks then function. In my first iterations, I used PLA but my final design will be using PETG. |
Iteration 1
| Using Makers Empire, I designed the first bubble wand with a 9mm height. The lettering was 2mm high. I tested the bubble wand and printed a second one. Pros: Ease of Use Cons: Too thick
|
Iteration 2
My second iteration I changed the height to 5mm and changed the font. Pros: Height closer to what I wanted Cons: Font did not work
| |
Iteration 3
| My third iteration came about because I was having trouble creating a third copy in Makers Empire. Roland explained through the support that I was making copies but I had designated my first file as not for sale which prevented multiple copies. So this iteration was just using the gcode slicer and making the z axis 30% of the original. Pros: Height Cons: Font reduced in height |
Iteration 4
Iteration 5
Iteration 5 is an adaption of the original design at 2.5mm and font height of 2mm but not floating in the air. Pros: Height Orange PLA easy to read font Cons: PETG Blue font difficult to read
