Partnering a younger and older class together with mentors supporting from the high school, our students will have the opportunity to learn with each other. |

Today the last of our 474 students participated in the Hour of Code with the following classrooms: Fortney, Graham, Holland, and Smith. A huge shout out to our high school volunteers - Colleen and Lucy for helping make it happen! Today the following classrooms participated in Hour of Code - Nolan, Weisensel, Crowe, Dalhoff, Rohlfing, and Oscar. Thank you to our high school volunteers - Edward P., Michael L., and Grant N. whose help made this happen. Today 7 classrooms attended the Hour of Code in the LMC - Flogel, Germann, Rebholz, Prill, Fronek, Birkett, and Wersal. This all happened with the support of our high school volunteers - Colleen A., Noah J., Qiuwen Q., and Cecilia K.
Over the next two weeks, all of our students at Country View will have the opportunity to do an Hour of Code through many different activities. Today was the first group of Battles, Ehlenbach, Zorr, Curtis, Lawry, and Messmann.
To use it, you don't need an account but the teacher account allows you to create student codes where you can assign and monitor student projects. One really neat feature is the ability to comment on the code to document your thinking and to debug if needed. In the teacher account, you can comment on student code as well as student's can comment on their own code.
So this year I brainstormed all of the ways that our students could code with the materials that we have available. I spent a day creating posters and preparing materials.... so that students could engage in meaningful coding activities.
The Finches arrived just in time to debut. We have 30 of them until March through a grant from Finch Robot.
Osmo Coding was a huge success and with the easy reset all levels feature, I was able to quickly reset it for each new group. My PresentationWhat I Learned
