Intro to Makey MakeyIs it Conductive?Pixicade Create
It was so exciting to see my designers reconnect and the pride they have in what they are designing. Listening to the feedback and questions that are being asked and shared reinforces the need for an authentic audience who not only influences a design but also experiences that design. My Designers Reflections
Next week my designers will be creating a video game for their mentee based on feedback through their creation process about the main character, the setting, the challenge and more.

The Planning of the Unit
The Implementation of the UnitFirst came the introduction of the unit. I wanted the designers to understand the flow of the unit but also to have multiple pathways to pursue. Video Game PostersPacing Chart and Weekly Check InDuring the Weekly Check In Slide, designers had to document what they were doing as well as communicate with both me and their parent or guardian through an email about their pace and focus. The Mastery CheckThe mastery check for this unit was the creation of a video game in two days using one of the tools from the unit and reflecting on the process and what the designer learned. Designers were encouraged to work with a partner. Below are a few of the examples that were shared during the mastery check with me.

The History of PixicadePixicade is designed by two educators and from the start of the experience, you can tell. From the markers that can be left uncapped for 2 days and not dry out, to the amazing learning books that bridge exploring and creating of video game design into the integration into learning; it is apparent that a lot of thought has gone into the design of this product for young learners and designers. What is Pixicade? My Experience with PixicadeAfter downloading the app and watching a youtube video from the designer, I felt like I was prepared to introduce it. Pixicade created this super awesome script (red and blue writing) so that I didn't feel overwhelmed trying it for the first time with designers - young or old. I used this script with my neighbors who range in 8-16 years of age as well as with my colleague.

What I loved immediately about Pixicade.....
Honestly I can't wait to introduce this to my scholars in a few weeks. There will be an edu platform launching at the end of August. How to purchase Pixicade?Immediately after my first experience with Pixicade and the reaction of the designers, I knew that this needed to be part of my classroom. I bought the party pack using the information below.
