Arrival and Unpacking
Two of my designers unboxed and assembled the printer during the day while I was teaching. It was amazing to watch the ease that they worked together and solved different questions that they each had while assembling the printer. They were very compatible in that one designer was quick to try different ideas while the other designer was quick to read and check what was working or not working in their combined method.
The printer hit a snafu with our internet so instead the two designers used the preloaded designs to try the printer. The first two prints failed. |

Our First Prints
After our tech team was able to open our internet to connect our printer, Fabian quickly started learning the software and how to use multiple colors. Here is his first benchy which took almost 17 hours and left a lot of "filament poop". When the printer switches colored filament, it creates a small spiral of combined color filament called poop that is released through a section in the back which needs to be collected. We are now collecting filament poop that I hope to use in a creative repurposing project. |

My First Design
My first print for our school was this combination of two different Thingiverse files combined on Tinkercad and with added words to our school Euchre tournament between teachers. I was able to learn how to mash up different stls as well as select color changes using the slicer software. The print took 6 hours and for the most part was a success. The letters had to be repaired with hot glue because of the removal of supports and the fragility of the letters. |
