This time of the year always brings its challenges - mid year blues. And then a ray of sunshine walks through the door and shows you why we do what we do. After more than 3 weeks of persistence, a beautiful scarf has been created. The pride in such a piece of hard work is evident. Thank you to Julia Miller and Mark Huttner for making this a possibility for our students.
January is the month of fiber in our SP Design Lab. In December we received 20 crochet kits from The Yarn Council and Jo-Ann Fabric. Thanks to two wonderful volunteers, Julia Miller and Mark Huttner (Johnny Skein) 14 of our 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders started to learn how to crochet. For the next three weeks students will come every Tuesday and learn how to crochet.
Joann Fabrics and the Craft Yarn Council have provided our school with 20 crochet kits for our students to learn the magic of fiber arts. The month of January the SP Design Lab will be focusing on yarn and fiber arts like crocheting and weaving for those students who would like to learn.
We are currently looking for adults who crochet who would love to share their love of creation with our students. Please contact Karie Huttner at firstname.lastname@example.org or 608-845-4245 if you would be willing to work with our students on Tuesday or Thursday from 10:45-12:15 in our SP Design Lab.
