Carrie and I arrived a little early and were quickly embraced by both Dacia and our three ambassadors who helped us get situated and shared with us some ideas of what to do while we waited for everyone else to arrive. Thankfully I got a bottom side bunk in the cabin of six bunk beds. Honestly I don't know what I would have done if I needed to be on the top bunk. |
Let's just say I sympathized with Carolyn when she ended up on the top bunk and helped her move her mattress to the floor but at no time was I going to offer to sleep on the top bunk.
While waiting for everyone to arrive, Carrie and I did some exploring. The river was lower on our first day and we hiked along the river and several inlets that were full of clam shells.
| After dinner, we participated in several activities to become more familiar with each other as well as the area around us. I really enjoyed the Level It Up Challenge because it gave me the opportunity to really start to notice the area around me. We also played a cooperative cone game and received our journal and Mimic Makers book as well as more information about New River Gorge and our days ahead before having time to socialize or sleep. |
